Terms of Service

This page describes the Subflare app as it ships. If a feature is off by default, it stays off until you turn it on.

Effective date: August 13, 2026

Hosted copy: https://subflare.app/terms.html

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Subflare website and the Subflare software for Apple platforms (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Subflare is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Reddit, Inc. “Reddit” and related marks belong to their respective owners.

1. The Service

Subflare provides software that helps you access Reddit from compatible Apple devices — including iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch — plus optional Home Screen widgets, Share and Safari extensions, Live Activities, local notifications, and this informational website. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. Features may depend on Reddit, Apple, and other third-party services remaining available and compatible.

Subflare does not currently sell in-app purchases, tips, or subscriptions.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract and meet any age requirements of Apple, Reddit, and applicable law. Because Subflare displays user-generated content from Reddit, it is intended for users who meet Reddit’s and Apple’s age requirements for that content. You are responsible for complying with the terms of any third-party services you use alongside Subflare, including Reddit’s User Agreement and Content Policy.

3. Accounts and third parties

Subflare does not provide Reddit accounts. Sign-in uses Reddit’s own flows. Your relationship with Reddit, Apple, and other providers is solely between you and them. You are responsible for safeguarding your devices, Apple ID, and Reddit credentials, and for activity under your accounts.

Some optional features contact other third parties only when you use them, for example Klipy (GIF search), YouTube (embeds), Arctic Shift (archived deleted content), RemovePaywall (optional link helper), and destinations you open as links. Those providers’ terms and privacy policies apply to that contact.

To delete your Reddit account, use Reddit’s account settings. Signing out of Subflare or deleting the app does not delete your Reddit account.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

5. Content

Content you view or interact with through Subflare originates from Reddit and other third parties. We do not control that content and are not responsible for its accuracy, legality, or appropriateness. Reporting, blocking, and moderation of Reddit content are governed by Reddit’s policies and tools, which Subflare may surface where available.

Subflare blurs media labeled mature (NSFW) by default until you tap to reveal it. You may also use iOS Focus Filters to temporarily hide or blur that content while a Focus is active. Mature content availability on your Reddit account is controlled on Reddit’s website. No client-side filter can guarantee removal of all objectionable material.

Optional “Recover deleted comments” may show a third-party archive copy of deleted or removed text. Archives can be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate, and may include content Reddit no longer displays. That feature is off by default.

Optional on-device summaries, translations, photo descriptions, and Flare briefings are generated on your device when you enable them. They can be wrong or incomplete. They are not official Reddit content.

6. Intellectual property

The Subflare name, branding, and original materials on this website and in the app are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy or redistribute them except as allowed by these Terms or with prior written permission. Third-party trademarks, including Reddit marks, remain the property of their owners.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy describes how information is handled when you use the Service. By using the Service, you acknowledge that policy.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT IT WILL CONTINUE TO WORK WITH REDDIT OR APPLE PLATFORMS.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms or third-party rights, to the extent permitted by law.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this site with a new effective date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
